If you are looking for something to shake up your Monday, check out the Trivia Night at The Wonderland Ballroom in Columbia Heights. Teams of no more than five compete against each other for the ultimate prize: the bar pays for your tab. The atmosphere is lively, and it is both a challenge of wit and a great way to socialize with your friends.
The evening moves quickly through seventy questions on a variety of topics, including sports, current events, pop culture and music. Knowledge of the obscure always helps.
For those of you who are “trivia challenged,” fear not. Prizes are awarded for funny answers and Best Team Name. The team known as “Miniature Seeing-Eye Ponies” is one of the past winners of this coveted award.
There is no cost to participate and The Wonderland has many drink and food specials to make it an affordable evening. Specials include:
$2 Footlong hotdogs with chili and/or cheese
$2 off all drafts
$3 rail drinks
$6 Delirium Tremens
The Wonderland also offers a bar menu of burgers, quesadillas, wraps and vegetarian items and most cost under $10.
Before you go:
1. Arrive early to grab a table.
2. Most participants arrive with a team assembled. Spend your free time on Monday not only brainstorming a clever team name, but finding a team.
3. If you are worried about staying out late on a Monday night: don’t! Most evenings of trivia finish-up around 10:00 pm.
