Yes, it’s bloody hot out right now and we’re all reminded daily that our first president chose to build our capital on a swamp, but do you remember the Snowpocalypse? Unless you blacked out for a month or happened to be vacationing off on the pink sand beaches of Barbuda, you remember Snowpocalypse all too well. Who can forget the two-hour-long lines at the grocery stores with the empty shelves, the days without power, and the increasingly inane banter that the local news anchors had to engage in as the storm dragged on and on and on?
Now the Phillips Collection is throwing the End of Summer White Party with the Pink Line Project and Bluebrain, which will memorialize the Snowpocalypse as only the art world can. Tell the story of how you fell in love in the igloo you built on U Street. Rant about how much you hated not having the Internet except on your phone. Share the recipe for the snow cones you made. Whatever. The best soundbites will be incorporated into his audio-visual smorgasbord and shown at the party.
As well as Bluebrain’s installation, there will be Latin and Caribbean jazz courtesy of the Duende Quartet; a gallery talk, “Pousette-Dart and Color: Beyond White”; Caribbean food in the café; and summer white wines will be available at the cash bar from Cork Market and Tasting Room.
