Last June, Y&H colleague Lydia DePillis reported on a number of restaurant deals in the works along 14th Street NW, including new outposts of Matchbox and Ted's Bulletin. A month later, the proprietors officially confirmed the new Matchbox location in the old Arena Stage warehouse at 14th and T but later added that the Ted's deal was not quite done.
And now, it is. According to a press release, the new Ted’s, both larger and with more baking capacity than the original location on Capitol Hill, will be situated along 14th between S and Swann Streets NW, with an expected opening date of late 2012.

Ted’s BULLETIN Coming to 14th and Swann Streets NW!
Second Location part of The District Development
Washington, D.C., March 15, 2012- The matchbox Food Group is excited to announce their latest expansion plans with a second location of Ted’s BULLETIN. The new Ted’s will be located in The JBG Companies & Grosvenor America’s The District development located on 14th Street NW between S and Swann Streets NW, with an expected opening date of late 2012. The restaurant will be larger than its predecessor on Capitol Hill with around 180 seats as well as an expanded bakery– perfect for producing Ted’s famous homemade Pop-Tarts and a menu of unique gourmet donuts! Rest assured, the new Ted’s BULLETIN will stay true to the 1930’s art deco diner setting that made it such a success.
“To have the opportunity to expand Ted’s, a concept born out of the memory of my father, is truly amazing,” said Ty Neal, principal partner of the matchbox Food Group. “Opening up the first restaurant in 2010, and then to have such support from the community is a humbling feeling. We are so grateful for everything we have been able to achieve, and look forward to giving back as much, if not more, than what the greater Washington area has given us.”

Located in the heart of the Logan Circle neighborhood, The District will be a 125-unit mixed-use apartment development designed by Shalom Baranes Associates. Leasing of the residences is scheduled to start this summer with the building delivering in late 2012.
Ted’s BULLETIN, which first opened on 8th Street SE in July of 2010, quickly became a DC favorite. Serving adult milkshakes and homemade “Pop-Tarts,” put them on the map as a must try restaurant. With a new menu just launched, including a family style pasta night on Mondays, Ted’s is sure to win big with diners, all year long!
Ted’s BULLETIN is open Sunday-Thursday from 7:00am – 9:30pm, Friday & Saturday from 7:00am – 10:30pm and breakfast is available all day.
