“DC Housewives” Mary Amons: “Challenging” Decision to Be on Show

Newly minted "Real Housewives of DC" star Mary Amons said signing on to be a cast member of the wildly popular reality show was no easy task.

"It was a challenging decision to make," the mother-of-five who runs her own charity, Labels of Love, told Niteside.

"There is a risk of exposure to your home life, but I am so proud of who we are as a family, I think we are a lot of fun to be around and to watch."

Despite the risks, the tipping point for Amons was that she felt the show would help draw attention to her charity.

"I thought it would be a great opportunity to really launch my charity," she said. "It has been a great, fun thing for our family. Very positive."

The mom-on-the-go said she anticipates this season to be filled with less in-fighting than in seasons past, which have been riddled with verbal barbs, physical altercations and even hair-pulling.

“This franchise is more intellectual," she said. "It’s what we bring to the city rather than cat fights.”
