A little rain isn't going to keep people away from their milkshake needs.
Proving that whatever New York City has, Washingtonians want, crowds lined up early -- one guy brought a chair! -- outside 1216 18th St. N.W.. And finally, finally, the long-awaited Dupont Circle location of Shake Shack opened today at 11 a.m.
Billing itself as a "modern-day roadside burger stand," the original Shake Shack opened in Madison Square Park in Manhattan in 2004, dishing up burgers, hot dogs and frozen custard. Oh -- and also beer and wine. Not back for a Shack, right?
Several more spots have opened in New York City since then, with additional outposts in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Miami and the Middle East. The first District spot is taking over the old Fuddruckers location in Dupont; the second will be in Nationals Park by mid-summer.
