There wasn’t a list or special invitation for this event. Tareq and Michaele Salahi hosted their own party on Saturday less than a mile away from the White House -- the America’s Polo Cup.
In case you were wondering, the Salahis showed proof of their permit to prove the event was official. While a U.S. team took on a team of players from India and Pakistan, guests enjoyed wine and food from P.F. Chang’s. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy e-mailed that neither the Indian government nor the embassy was associated with the match.
Tareq Salahi said the event’s proceeds would go to the U.S. polo league and maybe some of its future charitable activities.
Proceeds from the couple’s past polo tournaments are currently under investigation. State officials report the Salahis did not register to fundraise until late last year.
The Salahis claim the media never focuses on the couple’s good work for society, such as Tareq fundraising for cancer research. Michaele called it “negative journalism.” She says her mother always told her to be happy because, “If you hate me, and I hate you back, you win.”
Salahi fans may be able to catch that gem and more on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of DC.” The couple is rumored to be featured in the reality series. When asked if they’re on the show, Michaele said, “Watch and see what happens.” One might consider that a play on Bravo host Andy Cohen’s TV show “Watch What Happens.”
