Rooms Available for Obama's Inauguration!

Many DC area hotels still have vacancies for inauguration weekend

There's still hope for people desperately trying to find lodging in the Washington area for Barack Obama's inauguration.

Despite rumors that all hotels from Baltimore to Richmond are booked up for inauguration week, News4 has found that there are rooms still available -- if you're willing to pay top dollar.

Victoria Isley with DestinationDC -- an organization promoting tourism in the nation's capitol -- estimated that as of Friday, there were as many as 1,500 rooms still available inside the Beltway.

Hopeful inauguration-goers can call 1-800-422-8644, a hot line that helps match visitors with vacant rooms.

The following vacancies are currently listed, most with a 4-night minimum required:

Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill: $849/night

Morrison-Clark Hotel (NW Washington): $879/night

Hilton Garden Inn (14th Street NW): $799/night

Visitors willing to stay a little farther away can find rates as low as $425 per night in Herndon, Va.

News4 found significantly lower rates 56 miles away on Maryland's Eastern Shore, where rooms at the Best Western have rates of $219 per night.
