“Real Housewives” Fans Ready to Tune in to Drama

Women across the country and here in D.C. are counting the hours until they can tune into their favorite guilty pleasure.

The fifth installment of the Real Housewives set up shop in D.C. We stopped by a popular salon Thursday afternoon to check in with women gossiping about the big premier.

Practically everyone at Georgetown’s Erwin Gomez Salon had something to say. “Oh it’s all the buzz,” said Salon Manager Morenike Abdullah enthusiastically. In between cuts and blowouts, clients were plotting out viewing parties and placing bets on what drama would unfold.

“I think in some ways it sort of shows what a woman has to go through in her everyday life, even if it’s cattiness or over-the-top [drama],” said Susan Nsouli about the show.

Stylist Peggy Ioakim has a unique reason to be glued to the tube. She styled cast member Michaele Salahi’s hair the day she became a media sensation by allegedly crashing President Barack Obama’s first state dinner at the White House.

"For me, I was just doing my job, and a few days later, the whole news came out, and I'm just interested to see how this is all going to evolve with the show and hopefully we'll get the answers,” she said.

But Salahi's fellow housewives have had enough of the infamous couple's spotlight. The cast of five visited the "Today Show" Tuesday morning promoting the new season, and already the claws were out.

"They live a phony, fake Bonnie and Clyde life,” chimed in one woman.

"You're so angry and jealous,” said Michaele Salahi. “You would never want to go through what I've been through.”

Salon-goers say no matter whom you side with, the catfights have practically everyone hooked.

Cue the music and let the drama begin.
