Public Enemy Bringing Noise to D.C. Streets

Chuck D, Flava Flav to arrive on flatbed truck

And the winner in the category for Best Entrance to a D.C. Concert goes to ... Public Enemy!

The long-time musical sensation will make a grand entrance at its concert tonight at GW's Lisner Auditorium -- by performing in the streets of Foggy Bottom on a flat-bed truck. Nice.

Public Enemy is starting its day at the Sasha Bruce House, where members will hang with more than 30 homeless kids and host a Thanksgiving dinner to kick off the holiday season. (For those who don't know, November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.)

After the dinner, probably around 7:30 p.m., PE will hop on the flat-bed truck and play along the way to Lisner, like a Pied Piper leading children to the land of hip-hop happiness. The route, according to the Post:

The truck is set to arrive in Foggy Bottom at the intersection of 18th and G Streets N.W. and will head west on G Street, take a right on 22nd Street, another right onto I Street, and a final right onto 21st Street, until they reach the steps of Lisner Auditorium. Organizers expect the group to squeeze two or three songs out of the appearance, depending on traffic.

Those who attend the concert can get a VIP upgrade on their ticket by donating a winter coat. Oh, and the kids from the Sasha Bruce House are invited to attend the concert, as well, as the band's special guests.  Happy holidays indeed!
