Praying Mantis Delays Nationals/Mets Game Sunday

Baseball has seen its fair share of unwanted guests on the field. There have been streakers, there have been kissing bandits. Hell, a renegade squirrel turned into a rallying point for a World Series-winning team.

Sunday, the Washington Nationals received an unwanted guest of their own when a praying mantis found its way onto the outfield at Nationals Park during their 5-2 win over the New York Mets, causing play to be stopped in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Mets outfielder Andres Torres snatched up the mantis and helped it to safety, saving it from being subjected to some sort of cruel and unusual punishment, something that Mets fans surely wish they could relate to.
