Pepe: Long Lines, $20 Sandwich… Worth It?

José Andrés' food truck Pepe got rolling Tuesday

Local chef Jose Andrés is generating a lot of buzz with the new addition to his lineup of gourmet eateries -- but we can't give you the address. Pepe, his Spanish-inspired food truck, hit the streets for the first time Tuesday.

The truck has already hit popular food truck destinations like Metro Center and Dupont Circle, drawing crowds and long lines. Nearly 200 customers each day have visited this week, said Stephanie Salvador, communications coordinator for Andrés' Think Food Group.

Sales have been surprisingly brisk for a budget-busting sandwich made with Serrano ham and Ibérico pork, a food truck chef said. The price? $20. More affordable options include $6 sandwiches and Andrés' popular patatas bravas.

So is it worth it? Check out the video above to find out.

The truck serves lunch from around 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. You can find out where it will be next by following its Twitter account @pepefoodtruck or by connecting with Pepe the Food Truck on Facebook.
