Party Like a Horn Star

Album Release Party at Red Lounge

Experience a bit of "Coming of Age" via trumpet protégé Johnny Graham -- the official album release party is Thursday at Red Lounge (2013 14th St. N.W.).

But recording artist is just one of Graham’s hats. He’s a University of Maryland alum, a Smith School of Business MBA student and CEO of Freestar Entertainment... OK, so you get it. The guy’s got hats. And they all match his "lounge" attire: a big brass horn and a tendency to set off the party!

Graham accredits his success, in great part, to his freshman year and the "Juke Joint" open mic, where he and his band Black Diamond would mark their territory on campus. Since then, Graham’s taken over Washington.

His art and academics in full swing, Little Johnny says hello to Mr. Graham with "Coming of Age." His style and arrangements are as grown as they are sexy while equally unassuming and contemporary. Graham's debut album is a seasoned yet modern jazz-hop that still manages to reflect a hip-hop youth.

He describes the album as "a maturation of myself as a musician, an entrepreneur and as a man... that’s coming of age."

The party is this Thursday, Aug. 5, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., for $5 at the door.
