One Sale to Rule Them All

The Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale is Saturday

This is the big one. The one you've been waiting for, whether you knew it or not. The sale of the season.

Wipe the beads of sweat off your forehead -- it's OK. We'll wait.

So. The Old Town Boutique District is holding its annual Warehouse Sale this Saturday, Feb. 7, at the George Washington Masonic Memorial (101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tons of high-end boutiques are gathering up their end-of-season or otherwise unsold wares to offload to you for HUGE discounts (think 70-80 percent off retail).

Participating shops include Treat, Periwinkle and Apple Seed, which carries maternity and baby clothes. Home décor retailed Red Barn Mercantile is participating for the first year, bringing its homey, pattern-happy upholstery, bedding and furniture. Clothing brands you might find include Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch.

This is the first year the sale's being held at the Masonic Memorial (yay! it's super-close to the King Street Metro); organizers are hoping crowd control will go more smoothly. Shoppers will be allowed in at intervals to cut down on overcrowding -- there will be no "Running of the Brides"-style stampedes here in classy Old Town. Seriously. There's a monogram shop participating in this sale, for goodness sakes.

Gear up to go early. It's totally OK to line up even before the start time of 9 a.m. Plenty of people do. We normally wouldn't condone getting up so freakishly early on a Saturday, but this is no plate of brunch-buffet waffles we're talking about here.
