Could Tupac's story be next?
"Notorious" screenwriter Cheo Hodari Coker reportedly is set to co-executive produce and adapt a screenplay for an upcoming biopic of Run-DMC, the chart-topping rappers behind hits "Walk This Way" and "It's Like That."
Coker's script will be based on author Bill Adler's book, "Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-DMC —The Authorized Biography," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Both "Notorious" and Adler's book revolve around rap superstars who were shot to death at the prime of their careers — Christopher Wallace, also known as Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G., and Run-DMC's DJ, Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. Wallace died in 1997 in Los Angeles, and Mizell was slain in his Queens studio in 2002.
After Mizell's death, Run-DMC retired. The group will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 4.
