After a lengthy hiatus, Gwen Stefani is reuniting with No Doubt for a comeback.

The band released their first picture together in years on their Web site on Friday and posted an instant messenger chat that found them discussed hitting the studio and going back on the road.

“We need to play. It’s been too long… I feel like it’s time for some rock and roll,” bassist Tony Kanal wrote.

“I think we should go out now, I don’t think we should wait,” Gwen, the band’s lead singer, agreed.

No tour dates for the Grammy-winning act have yet been announced.

Their coming return is the first news from No Doubt since the 2003 release of their greatest hits collection, “The Singles 1992-2003,” but the band has kept busy during its layoff.

Gwen has released a pair of solo albums and given birth to two sons with husband Gavin Rossdale, as well as launching two clothing lines, L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers. Tony produced several songs on Gwen’s albums and also worked on two tracks from Pink’s “Funhouse,” while guitarist Tom Dumont set off on a side project, the band Invincible Overlord.
