Night at the (Hirshhorn) Museum

'Cause you're that classy

In the market for a classy night of highbrow entertainment?

Aren't you always?

Well, you're in luck, 'cause tickets are now on sale for Hirshhorn After Hours at the Hirshhorn Museum (7th St.& Independence Ave. SW). (And how many times do you think we can say "Hirshhorn" in this article?) From 8 p.m. to midnight on July 24, enjoy a contemporary art event that will probably leave you kinda tired for work the day day, but that's totally OK because you'll be all cultured and stuff.

Advance tickets are $18, allowing you to delight in extended museum hours, curator-led gallery tours, DJs and special performances. Expect performances by The Night Hawks and DJs izzy-b and nyko skyye, with special guest dahlu spinning a mix of hip-hop, R&B, soul and deep house tracks on the plaza. Also, you'll learn the lesson that all DJs must spell their names in lowercase letters only.

Meanwhile, the art's not too shabby either. Browse exhibits like "Strange Bodies: Figurative Works from the Hirschhorn Collection," where you can attend a gallery talk by curator Kristin Hileman at 8:30 p.m.; "Black Box: Guido Van de Werve," and the photographs and sculptures of "Directions: Walead Beshty: Legibility on Color Backgrounds."

Right now, nothing stands between you and all that (except maybe $18), but a night this cosmopolitan is bound to sell out soon. Bottom line: Get your tickets ASAP.
