Trek fans got another bold glimpse into JJ Abrams reimagining of “Star Trek” as a new trailer hit the web.
The waiting game for the franchise has taken trekkers to a new frontier, as the highly anticipated film will be released May 8 after Paramount had originally planned to ship it last Christmas -- but felt the pic's gross potential would be greater as part of the summer blockbuster season.
Abrams (whose credits include “Lost,” “Cloverfield,” and “Mission Impossible III”) takes the helm of the flick hoping to attract a new audience as well as long time trekies. The film chronicles of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members.
According to Vanitety Fair, "Star Trek" has little competition in its new slot, although it will open between "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Angels and Demons."
