Access Hollywood's own Nancy has already started helping give a woman's touch to NBC's coverage of the annual horse race, by co-hosting "Ladies First: Bravo At The Kentucky Derby", and she turned up in the gorgeous hat you can see in our accompanying photo.
Nancy's extravagant tan hat, accented by white flowers with pink tips, was perfect for Friday's Kentucky Oaks, which helped the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the breast cancer organization.
While she was unable to wear it during Friday's Bravo broadcast due to its size, Nancy sported the wide brim at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Oaks event.
Angie Schultz of Attitudes by Angie, designed the wide-brimmed headpiece, one of many, beautiful original hats she made for this year's Kentucky Derby festivities.
"All one of [my hats] are one of kind," Angie, who has been designing these extravagant headpieces for almost a decade, told AccessHollywood.com.
While the focus of the Derby is horseracing, the parade of ladies hats is just as important and Angie says there are no rules for wearing wide-brimmed beauties.
"I don't have rules. My hats you can wear frontward, you can wear backwards…. Do it the way you wanna do it," she said. "It's about how you want to make it your own. Dress it up and make it who you are… My hats are not sitting on the shelf. They have an identity, they have energy."
Angie, who has had a host of stars wear her hats, including Star Jones, cites Oprah Winfrey as her inspiration for starting her hat-designing business.
"Oprah inspired me from the beginning. .. I have a 10-year anniversary next year … My dream is to be on 'Oprah'… She's the one who inspired me. She's the one who pushes the women out there [to] follow your dreams."
