Michelle Obama wore a very bright, off-yellowish dress with matching coat to the inauguration today, and was the talk of the town.
"Completely unexpected color for January, but we love how she always surprises us," wrote New York Magazine, which noted that the dress was by Cuban-born designer Isabel Toledo.
The Times live-blogged that "aides said Mrs. Obama planned to wear the ensemble for her husband’s swearing-in ceremony and for the inaugural parade. She plans to wear another outfit this evening. And we still don’t know what that will be. Keep ‘em guessing, Michelle."
The AP noted "Toledo just a few years ago unsuccessfully tried to infuse more modern style into the venerable Anne Klein label [and] is considered among the more avant garde U.S. designers."
