Marriott to Raise Funds to Help National Mall

Maryland-based Marriott International announced a new "Check In and Help Out" campaign that will benefit the aging National Mall.

The hotel package will run through early September at several D.C., Maryland, and Virginia locations.

When guests book a hotel stay with the package, $5 per night will be donated to the Trust for the National Mall.

As part of the package, guests also receive complimentary breakfast and a book about the National Mall.

"Check In and Help Out'' will run at J.W. Marriott, Renaissance and Marriott hotels in the Washington region.

The Trust for the National Mall recently announced that Laura Bush has joined the effort to raise $350 million to restore the most visited national park. The Mall’s dead grass, broken sidewalks and standing pools of water have drawn attention in recent years.
