Jiffy Lube Live, the large outdoor concert amphitheater in Bristow, Virginia, is banning tailgating in its parking lots, our friends over at NBC Washington report. The Live Nation venue, home to such party-friendly acts as Jimmy Buffet and Kings of Leon, will open its gates later than usual this summer, combing parking lots for now-banned items such as tents, portable grills, and, of course, alcohol.
While some have bristled at the news ("Tailgating is the whole reason for going there", one concertgoer complained on the venue's Facebook page), police and venue representatives say it's purely a safety move. A necessary one, some would argue: Four people have died in drunken driving incidents after concerts at the venue in the past two years.
