Just when you think there are no holidays to get you through the month, some obscure, pseudo-holiday celebration comes along to brighten your mood and give you an excuse to take a road trip.
What else could we be talking about but the world-famous International Sword Swallowers Awareness Day? I know, quite a mouthful. Don't laugh too hard, though, you don't want to hurt yourself. After all, it's a little rough coming out.
Ripley's and the Sword Swallowing Association International (Hey, everyone else in this town has an association) claim the event has much to offer around the world: "More than a dozen sword swallowers at seven Ripley's Believe It or Not! museums worldwide will be performing shows at 2:28 p.m. local time on February 28, International Sword Swallowers Awareness Day. More than 30 feet of solid steel is set to go down the hatch - hopefully without a scratch!"
Now how can you let that slide out of your mouth without wanting to see it live?
