"She is small, she is cute and she is a webcam star," the National Zoo says of a six-month-old endangered black-footed ferret.
Black-footed ferrets are the only ferret species native to North America (and, arguably, also the only ferret species to be totally adorable). This little critter was born at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, but despite her luck and fame, she still needs a name.
You can vote online for your pick of four names, through Nov. 4.
The options are Rosebud, Shirley, Cheyenne and Meeteetse.
The first three choices are for sites where captive-bred black-footed ferrets are released back into the wild. Meeteetse is for the Wyoming town where a small colony of black-footed ferrets were discovered in 1981. Before that, they were thought to be extinct.
Since then, the conservation center has produced 670 black-footed ferrets, 220 of whom have been reintroduced to nature.
Not all of them were swanky enough to have their name chosen by an adoring public, though.
