Good Stuff, Better Stuff: Spike Moves to Pizza

Pizza by the slice, NOT eaten by drunk people!

What Obama burger? Former "Top Chef" contestant Spike Mendelsohn is set to open a new endeavor in mid-April, and this one will have little to do with savory layers of beef, cheese and bacon. Don't get too sad, though, 'cause it's something just as good.

The upcoming We, the Pizza will be located at 305 Pennsylvania Ave. S.E., next door to his Good Stuff Eatery. The chef Spike brought from New York, Mike Colletti, will be moving next door to tend to it.

Homemade gelatos and Italian sodas, sandwiches and take-home dinners will be available, but of course the focus will be on the pizza -- in this case, thin-crust, New York-style goodness. Creative concoctions like creamed spinach will share attention with traditional components. (Pepperoni, we wish we knew how to quit you.)

Best of all, the pizza will be sold by the pie... or the slice! Finding (good) pizza sold by the slice in this town is pretty much impossible unless you're drunk at 2 a.m., so we feel pretty encouraged by this latest entry on the dining scene. And it's even better considering it's coming from Spike.

The new establishment will include three private dining rooms; partiers will be able to nosh from either Good Stuff or We, the Pizza.
