Glam Slam: Gorgeous Grammy Hair

The Grammys are this Sunday, which means there are just a few days left for the stars to prepare perfect tresses!

Carrie Underwood, Rihanna and Jennifer Hudson are all scheduled to stop by the official Grammy Style Studio this week to get red carpet ready. Celebrity hairstylists Dean Banowetz and Rodney Cutler will be working their magic at the lounge… but first they shared with us tips for getting the gorgeous Grammy trends.

“The ‘down’ do is the new updo. It’s about casual elegance… evening wear without the effort,” says Rodney.

Dean agrees predicting that we will see ponytails or buns off to the side and tousled loose updos. There will also be hair worn down and long.

Performer Carrie Underwood should show off her luscious locks! Dean says, “This year on the red carpet at the Grammys, I would like to see Carrie’s hair parted to the side and worn in 40’s inspired waves.”

To get this look, gather 2 to 3 inch sections of hair and carefully wrap it around a curling iron (Dean recommends the InStyler hot iron).

“After dropping the curl, wrap it back up in a curl formation and secure with a clip to allow it to cool. Repeat until the entire head is curled. Once it’s done release pins and let curls drop.” Finally Dean recommends brushing the hair with a soft bristled paddled brush to create a soft romantic look.

“Katy Perry is new on the music scene and getting a reputation for her fearless style,” Dean says. While she often wears her hair down Dean would like to see her try something different. “I would like to see her walk down the red carpet wearing her hair half up and half down with lots of wave and texture.”

To achieve the look, use a curling iron holding it in place in each section of hair for 5-10 seconds. “To loosen and separate run your fingers through the section… Next pull the hair on the sides of the head back and secure,” Dean says.

While you can use a budget-friendly clear rubber band to hold the hair in place, I say go for a statement hair accessory, which is a huge trend right now. Glam it up with feathers, flowers or a big jewel… the perfect rock and roll statement!
