Gio Gonzalez Trips, Falls, Becomes First Pitcher With 20 Wins This Season

Gio Gonzalez became this season's first 20-game winner Saturday in the Nationals' 10-4 drubbing of the Milwaukee Brewers. He may have also become the first pitcher in the majors this season to slip off the mound while attempting to throw a pitch.

Gonzalez laid face down on the grass for a few seconds and stretched out his back as he gingerly stood up. This prompted manager Davey Johnson, pitching coach Steve McCatty, a team trainer and the Nationals' infield to pay a visit to the mound to make sure that their ace was alright.

Fortunately for everybody, the only thing that Gonzalez suffered was a bruised ego.

There is currently no word, however, on whether or not such an injury will require Gonzalez to be shut down.
