Frederick Woman Wins Battle Over Holiday Display

Homeowner's association committee had ordered lights taken down

FREDERICK, Md. -- A Frederick woman has won her fight to keep up an elaborate holiday display outside her townhome.

During a meeting Monday night, the woman's homeowner's association agreed to drop fines leveled against 3 homeowners and will review its policies related to holiday decorations, according to Dave Greber, an attorney for Debra Sachs.

Sachs was racking up $25 per day in fines for refusing her homeowner's association's mandate that she take down her Christmas lights.

The Worman's Mill homeowner's association deemed Debra Sachs' Christmas display violates association rules by not fitting the community's "design concept."

Sachs complained that the rules about holiday decorations are too vague.
