Andrew Nowell's Menswear Stars at Howard Fashion Show

While Howard University's homecoming weekend always offers a bevy of stylish, celeb-filled events, the real star of the kick-off fashion show, the student-run "Reflections, the Battle, and the Conquest" was guest designer Andrew Nowell.

A local menswear specialist on the rise, Nowell brought an sophisticated yet urban collection to Howard, equally inspired by Savile Row, punk and hip-hop streetwear. Comprised by sharp, tailored suits accessorized with heavy jewelry, his set brought to mind something Kanye might rock at an awards show. (Ideally, not while he's throwing a temper tantrum.)

Howard Homecoming is not just for students and alumni, and as usual the weekend is chock-full of nightlife events worth your attention. Some of the best happened at Mansion, a new pop-up venue created by Grey Goose. They had got Jay-Z protégé J.Cole on Friday, a DJ set from Solange Knowles Saturday, and a performance from pop-rapper B.o.B. on Sunday.
