It probably didn't get much pub in your local paper blog, but Manhattan beat NJIT, 56-32. The New Jersey Institute of Technology has lost its 34th straight game which ties the NCAA Division I record. Sacramento State lost the same amount from December 22, 1997 to January 27, 1999.
NJIT hasn't won a game since February 19th of last year and have won just five of 59 games since moving up to D-I over two years ago. They can set the record on Monday if they lose at Penn State.
There is one catch: NJIT will have the record but won't be in the record book.
Since the Highlanders are still in their reclassifying status (that ends after this season), their record for ineptitude won't count in the books. The school technically isn't a full member of Division I until the 2009-2010 season.
