Kimbo Slice Arrives in Japan, Will Work as K-1 Announcer, Possibly Fighter

We still don't know when we'll see Kimbo Slice fighting again, but we do know when we'll see him on TV again: Live from Japan on Saturday at 3 a.m. Eastern on HDNet, where he'll be part of the broadcast team for the K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 Finals.

Kimbo has a contract with K-1, the Japanese kickboxing promotion, to work as one of its announcers, and everyone assumes that he'll sign a contract with K-1's parent company to fight for the promotion just as soon as he gets his contract with EliteXC straightened out.

That means America's most famous -- though nowhere near best -- mixed martial arts fighter will likely be fighting on HDNet in 2009. That's a major coup for HDNet, which shows by far the most MMA of any American TV network. Kimbo isn't good at MMA, but if his presence helps attract fans to the sport, he can be good for MMA.

Here's a picture of Kimbo arriving at Narita International Airport in Japan, via Fight Opinion.
