Estelle: I Want To Give My Fans 100%

Grammy award winning artist Estelle was in D.C. recently promoting her new album and Niteside caught up with her at DTLR where she discussed her new album, almost becoming a journalist and loving D.C.

Welcome to D.C., how do you like it?

I absolutely love it here! D.C. is a lot like London when it comes to partying. Everyone is so friendly and we always have a good time.

You’re in the process of premiering your new album,  “All of  Me”. What make this album stand out?

This album stands out because I had more control, it’s 100% Estelle. I really believe that my fans will appreciate how authentic it is.

A big part of being an artist is doing collaborations I read somewhere that you are really good friends with Solange Knowles are we going to hear a collaborations from you two?

Yeah, I think at some point Solange and I will do something. We’re both so in our own little lanes right now, but I love her and I see her every time we are in New York or in LA we catch up.  That’s my girl outside of music and with that relationship I hate to force things because it always ends up a bit “maybe” and as cool as we are, I want it to be epic.  Otherwise we would probably hate each other afterwards.

What is your favorite thing about being an artist?

Performing. Hands Down. Everything is a means to an end. It really is performing. I’ve been doing that in between everything in my entire life.  I love it. It’s like getting to meet a million people everyday or getting to meet 20 different people every single day and they like your music, they like something that you’ve committed yourself to doing in your life and they appreciate what you do on a different level. That to me is everything.

If you weren’t in the music industry what would you be doing?

I have no clue.  I took a college course in Media and Journalism, so I used to be a Journalist and I have worked in a record shop and I did video production, so I’ve done everything around the industry and now I’m an artist.

What do you want fans to take away from this album?

I want my fans to be able to relate to the music, to know that everyone goes through the same things and to also feel happy when they’re done listening.
