D'Oh! Fox Orders More “Simpsons”

Homer Simpson will live to "d'oh!" another day.

Fox has ordered two more seasons of its cartoon smash hit, "The Simpsons," extending the series' run to 22 years, Broadcasting & Cable reports.

The two-season extension of the show will add another 44 episodes, bringing its total to 493 since it premiered in 1990.

The show is currently in its 20th season and averages 8.7 million viewers for the Fox network in its primetime slot.

Twenty-four Emmys have been awarded to "The Simpsons" over the two decades it's been on the air. "The Simpsons Movie" was released in 2007 and grossed more than $500 million worldwide for Fox.
