Fatal Fire Was No Accident

Man accused of covering up wife's slaying by setting house on fire

The investigation into Monday's fatal fire in Woodbridge has taken a dramatic turn -- police now say a man murdered his wife and used a house fire as a cover up.

Graciela Marandino, 31, was found inside her burning home on Valley Stream Drive early Monday morning. Her husband, 36-year-old Mario Jennings Jr., had also been burned.

The fire investigation revealed that Marandino and Jennings had an altercation during which Marandino was knocked unconscious. Investigators believe Jennings then set fires in two different parts of the home with Marandino inside.

He has been charged with arson and homicide.
