Exclusive L2 Lounge Opens Its Doors to the District

With the right connections, Washington D.C.'s social set can enjoy L2 Lounge, the selective membership-driven after-hours spot hidden in Georgetown's back alley.

But now, the exclusive club with the membership fee in the four-figure range, is opening its doors to the District -- on select nights.

"We're upscale and exclusive but there's a big misconception that we're members only. We are open to the public," said Kelly Homan, special events director for L2 Lounge.

Last night was one of those nights, where those working behind the scenes of D.C.'s top parties, galas and corporate events mixed and mingled. Metro Event Specialists, which boasts a membership of over 900 event planners, caterers and venues, held their 2010 Networking Kickoff last night at the chic venue.

"There are many benefits to being a member [of L2 Lounge]," Homan said. "You get to come in, you get to bring five guests with you to attend the events and you get to party in a comfortable space -- we really cater to our guests' needs."

Home to many VIP events, don't be surprised if you spot a celebrity on one of their green chaise couches. Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Alba, Angela Bassett, Sarah Silverman, Will.i.am and MC Lyte have all partied here.

With nearly 200 members paying to party at L2, entry to the club on Thursday and Friday night costs $30 without a membership. The best bet is to stop by on Wednesday when there is no guest list or cover charge.
