Watch Live: 1st DC Eaglet Hatches From Egg, 2nd on the Way

WASHINGTON — The eaglet has landed.

The first bald eagle egg hatched at approximately 7:21 a.m. Wednesday, the American Eagle Foundation confirmed. The second egg is due to hatch any day now.

One of the eaglets made a tiny crack, known as a “pip,” in its shell around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. Now, the next big thing to look out for is the eaglet’s first feeding by its parents.

The famous eagle pair “Mr. President” and “First Lady” have been keeping watch over their two eggs in their nest atop a tree on the grounds of the National Arboretum for the past month. Once they hatch, the duo will be the fourth and fifth eaglets raised by the eagle pair.
