Volunteer Coach Pleads Guilty to Sex Offense With Girl, 15

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — A former volunteer high-school track coach won’t serve any jail time for having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.

Twenty-two-year-old Allen Kifer Jr. was granted probation before judgment Tuesday after pleading guilty to fourth-degree sex offense involving a member of the team at Fort Hill High School in Cumberland.

Kifer can apply to have the conviction expunged if he successfully completes 12 months of unsupervised probation.

Allegany County prosecutors dropped a third-degree sex offense charge in return for Kifer’s plea.

Cumberland police charged Kifer in May after an officer found him and the girl in a parked car near the Allegheny Highlands Trail. Investigators said they had been in a romantic relationship for several weeks.
