Virginia Auto Shop Worker Shot; Gunman Barricaded Inside

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Law enforcement officials have surrounded an auto shop in Virginia after they say a gunman shot an employee and barricaded himself inside.

York-Poquoson Sheriff Danny Diggs said in a phone interview Tuesday that the shooting victim is an employee of Ebby’s Auto Painting & Collision Repair in Williamsburg. Diggs said the man was alive when he was taken to a hospital.

Diggs said the shooter is not an employee. He has barricaded himself inside the business. Nearby schools have locked down and a hospital has limited access to visitors.

Diggs said the first 911 call came in at 8:56 a.m. He said the shooting appears to be the result of a domestic situation that escalated.
