WASHINGTON — A Northern Virginia man who took his friend’s teen son on several hunting and camping trips over the past few years and was described as a “trusted family friend” has been charged with sexually abusing the teen.
Eric Judy, 53, of Herndon, Virginia, has been charged with carnal knowledge of a child (13-15 years old), taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and production of child porn.
The boy, who’s now 17, recently confided in a family member about the alleged abuse, which he said dates back to May 2013 when he was 13.
The boy told the family member about the alleged abuse after recent contact with Judy, Chapman said.
“It appears that this individual took advantage of a situation and we’re only finding out about it now,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman told WTOP.
“The parents did not know about this. (Judy) was a trusted family friend,” Chapman said. “They had no reason to believe anything was amiss.”
Besides trips in the county, the pair also traveled to other parts of Virginia and outside of the state, Chapman said. The sheriff’s office is investigating to see if there are other victims.
Chapman said his office launched an investigation after learning of the abuse allegations on May. Fairfax County police arrested Judy at his Herndon home on May 3. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
If you have any information on this case you are asked to contact Detective E. Wilk with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit at (703) 777-0475.
