WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities are searching for a suspect who they say stabbed a security guard at a grocery store in southeast Washington.
District of Columbia police say the incident happened just before noon on Saturday at the Giant grocery store.
A police report says the security guard approached the suspect who was spotted on surveillance camera stealing items from the store.
Police say the suspect became upset and started running. The security guard chased the man and had apprehended him when police say the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the guard several times in the neck, upper body and back.
The suspect then fled the scene.
The security guard was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
