Supreme Court Denies Request for Rehearing in Death Row Case

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court has again declined to hear the death row case of a man who was convicted of killing a Richmond family of four.

The high court denied Ricky Gray’s petition for a rehearing Monday after declining last month to hear his appeal.

Gray was convicted of killing Bryan and Kathryn Harvey and their daughters, 9-year-old Stella and 4-year-old Ruby, while invading their home in 2006. Trial evidence showed the Harveys were tied up, stabbed and beaten to death before their house was set on fire. Gray says he doesn’t remember the killings because he was high.

He argued the Virginia Supreme Court failed to provide him with a “meaningful opportunity” to challenge the constitutionality of his death sentence.

Gray’s attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
