HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A sentencing hearing for a former Wesleyan University student who sold drugs involved in a rash of on-campus overdoses has been postponed.
Eric Lonergan of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute the party drug MDMA, also known as Molly. Sentencing had been set for Thursday. No new hearing date has been scheduled.
Prosecutors say Lonergan sold the drugs from his dorm room and counseled students on how to ingest them.
Eleven people were hospitalized and one nearly died early last year after ingesting the drugs. Several people also became ill in September 2014 after taking the drugs.
Lonergan’s friend, Zachary Kramer of Bethesda, Maryland, was sentenced to four months in prison in May for his role in selling the drugs.
