LAS VEGAS (AP) — A self-driving minibus is coming to Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1UY5nJa ) that Nevada officials say Arizona-based Local Motors plans to introduce the minibus known as Olli to Las Vegas later this year.
The 12-seat vehicle will be released in Washington, D.C., and Miami-Dade County before its Vegas debut. It could be used for public transportation or taking passengers on short rides.
Local Motors is a startup that makes 3D-printed vehicles. It plans to demonstrate the safety and reliability of Olli at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, before sending a fleet into the city.
The collaboration with Local Motors is the first project for the Nevada Center for Advanced Mobility. The economic development program was formed through a grant to UNLV in February.
