WASHINGTON — Saturday’s Earth Day rally and March for Science will lead to several street closures in D.C.

The rally starts on the National Mall between 15th and 17th streets in Northwest. Crowds will begin to gather at about 8 a.m., organizers say.

The D.C. police said on Thursday that the following streets would be closed from about 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • Constitution Avenue Northwest between 18th and 14th streets;
  • 17th Street Northwest between Independence and New York avenues;
  • 15th Street Northwest between Independence and Pennsylvania avenues;
  • Madison Drive Northwest between 14th and 15th streets;
  • Jefferson Drive Northwest between 14th and 15th streets;
  • Raul Wallenberg Place Northwest between Maine and Independence avenues.

Police add there will be rolling street closures on Constitution Avenue Northwest between 18th and 3rd streets between 2 and 3 p.m. for the March for Science.

Metro had planned a weekend shutdown in much of downtown D.C., but that has been postponed.
