DULLES, Va. (AP) — The National Weather Service says a record high temperature was measured at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Saturday.
Meteorologist Dan Hofmann at the weather service’s Baltimore/Washington field office says the airport hit 99 degrees at 3:44 p.m. Hoffman says that breaks a record of 98 degrees set back in 2002.
Hoffman says other airports in the region were flirting with their own records. Hoffman says Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport hit 100 during the day. Its record of 101 degrees was set back in 1881.
And Hoffman says at 3:15 p.m. a temperature of 98 degrees was recorded at Baltimore-Washington International Airport in Baltimore. A record temperature of 99 degrees was set there in 2002.
Hoffman says Sunday’s weather is expected to be similarly hot.
