PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) — The upcoming trial of a Petersburg quadruple-murder suspect is expected to be delayed as a result of seven new indictments in the case.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/2aQ5JWj) that on July 21, prosecutor Cassandra Conover obtained six capital murder indictments against Alexander Hill Jr. and one count of arson.
Fifty-year-old Hill was previously charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of four people in their Petersburg home in 2014.
A Nov. 1 trial has been scheduled.
Hill’s attorney John Rockecharlie says the trial may be delayed because of the new indictments and the appointment of the Virginia Capital Defender’s Office to the case.
Conover says she obtained the six capital murder charges under two separate theories of the case, only one of which will be prosecuted.
