WASHINGTON — Virginia and Maryland consumers take note: A snack food maker is recalling potato chips that may contain salmonella.
Snyder of Berlin is recalling bags of Buffalo Blue Kettle Cooked Potato Chips after being informed by a supplier that milk powder used in the chips’ spice blend might contain the bacteria.
Consumers should not consume the recalled product with the product codes listed below:
- FEB2117M77A
- FEB2117H44A
- FEB2117H44B
- FEB2817H77A
- MAR0717H77A
- MAR2117M77A
The products were distributed in nine states, including Virginia and Maryland.
To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with this product. No other Snyder of Berlin products were affected, the FDA said.
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12–72 hours after infection. Illness usually lasts 4–7 days, and most persons recover without treatment. However, in some cases it may require hospitalization.
Consumers should throw out or return these products to the point of sale for a full refund.
