NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — A Newport News man was injured after police say a woman smacked him in the face with frozen meat during an argument.
Media outlets report that Newport News police responded to a domestic assault call Sunday evening. When officers arrived, they met a 57-year-old man who said he was arguing with a woman when she hit him with frozen meat. The woman wasn’t at the location.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Later that night, 51-year-old Jacqueline James called police to report that she’d been assaulted. Police interviewed James, determined that she was the aggressor and arrested her. James was charged with malicious wounding.
Police say alcohol was a factor in the fight for both the victim and James.
It’s unclear if James has an attorney.
