Police: Suspect Who Shot Eastern Shore Man Is Found Dead in Stolen Truck

WILLARDS, Md. (AP) — Police say a man shot another man multiple times at his Maryland home before fleeing in the man’s pickup truck.

Maryland State Police say the man who shot the victim was later found dead in the stolen truck, which was submerged in water near the Wicomico County home. Police say 25-year-old Evan J. Gottlieb of Berlin appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say 65-year-old Blair C. Ranneberger was in his home with his wife Saturday when Gottlieb knocked on the door and demanded the keys to Ranneberger’s truck.

Police say Gottlieb was told the keys were in the truck and then shot Ranneberger multiple times.

Police said Sunday that Ranneberger was being treated at the hospital.

Police say the two men did not know each other.
