NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Police in Virginia say a man and woman are dead following two separate shootings that were reported hours apart.
Local news outlets report Norfolk police responded to two homicides on Sunday.
Officials say 18-year-old Nateria S. Powell died at a local hospital after officers found her with a gunshot wound around 12:45 p.m. Shortly after, police took 19-year-old Lamontraye D. McAdams into custody. He is charged with one count of second-degree murder. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
Later on, just before 9 p.m., officers pronounced a man who had been shot in the Ocean View region dead at the scene.
Witnesses there say they saw the flash of a gun firing seven shots before a black SUV sped away. Police canvassed the area and blocked a nearby intersection.
