Police Identify 5 Victims in Fatal Van Crash in Virginia

BOWLING GREEN, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police have identified five of the six people who were killed after a van they were traveling in hit a car and overturned.

The victims were identified as 33-year-old Epifanio Texmoxtle, 40-year-old Elvira Montiel and 5-year-old Jose Montiel, of Mexico. Two other victims were Guatemalan: 36-year-old Andres F. Francisco and 37-year-old Juan Diego.

Officials haven’t released the name of the sixth person who died Saturday’s crash.

Police say the van ran off the side of the road, swerved, hit a car and overturned five to six times. The victims were thrown from the van and died at the scene.

The van’s driver, Wenceslao Cruz-Marquez of Chicago, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving. Police say driver fatigue is being considered as a factor in the crash.
